Where northern roads meet
Valenstone
Valenstone is the place Arien and his family have always called home. It’s a small northern town built around roads, trade, and ordinary work. Beneath the distant Fellmark Mountains, its market, forge, inn, and workshops connect a close-knit community to a much wider world.
Valenstone was never planned so much as accumulated. The southern road widens between cottages and workyards before opening into the market square, then narrows again towards the northern bridge. Smaller lanes reach farms, kitchen plots, grazing land and the stream, while the Wayfarer inn, Garren’s forge, and Rory’s wheelwright workshop have grown where generations found them useful.
There are no walls, sentry towers or grand gates. Farms and hedges begin almost imperceptibly beyond the last houses, and the town’s history survives through its people, like Bren.
Valenstone is modest, practical and deeply lived-in. For Arien, its familiarity is both comfort and constraint, the wider world reaches the town through unfamiliar horses, changing trade, travellers’ stories and the roads that continue beyond it.
